C’mon get some Alice on the air, Check out Only Women Bleed, his coolest song in my opinion.

I'll accept that analysis. I am not trying to discredit the early Alice albums at all, in fact, "Love it to Death" is one of my all-time favorite albums by any band. However, my Ozzy parallel still stands. While in Black Sabbath and for a period of time afterwards, Ozzy was "just the singer" which is why Sabbath's record company backed Sabbath after the split. However, no-one can deny that Ozzy brought an intangible charisma and presence to Sabbath that simply wouldn't have existed with another singer (save Dio, but he was impossible to work with). My point is that although Alice and Ozzy may have just been "singers" from a musician's viewpoint, they breathed life and charisma into their songs that gave them color and depth of character. This is what I love about Alice.

BTW, an equally morbid moment on BDB was "I Love the Dead", Fng brilliant and credited to Alice and Bob. In fact, Coop has a writing credit for nearly every song after BDB. The song here is credited to Alice Cooper/Chris Cornell.

My Take.

Both of these albums showed the true musicianship abilities of the band. And remember that this was before the band had done much touring so the commercialism of Alice's stage show didn't have much effect on the music. These two albums gave AC a legitimate place in Rock & Roll. Plus .... the Killer album had a calendar attached on the inside. Our band used it to keep tract of the different 'things' we injested that year. I still have that calendar .... and it makes for some interesting remembering !*!*! :D ...

Interesting comments, ROLO. I have loved Alice since I was a teenager (albeit, this was during his comeback). There's something intangible about Coop that keeps me coming back. He's not the greatest musician (doesn't even play an instrument), he's not the greatest lyricist, but he's got a certain amount of wonderful theatricality and honesty about him that is irresistible.

I'll never forget hearing POISON for the 1st time and thinking, "what POP crap!" Later, when I had acquired his boxed set, I heard it again in more intimate surroundings and realized that it was just old ALICE, up to new tricks. No matter what he does, kinda like Ozzy, it is still fresh and still interesting.

Lastly, Rolo, gotta disagree about BEST ALBUM. Although it was very popular, Billion Dollar Babies was his best moment, if only for SICK THINGS. Only Alice could've pulled that off.

Interesting beginning, not as interesting as the song progressed. Unlike the other posters, I'm glad you played it.

Awesome song. Alice is not known for depth of character, but the lyrics are remarkable. They appear to describe an inner spiritual crisis. Not bad, for Alice.
