So glad for the PSD button else I don't think I would have heard this! Love it when RP turns the tempo up!

At an 80th birthday party for Mr. Scruggs in 2004, country singer Porter Wagoner said, “Earl was to the five-string banjo what Babe Ruth was to baseball.”

Earl Eugene Scruggs (January 6, 1924 – March 28, 2012) RIP

Great song. Your audience seems to enjoy a little 'bluegrass break'. You might consider playing Del McCoury. '1952 Vincent Black Lightning' is a good one.

woooooo hooooooooooo! Happy feet!
It's nice to hear some "bluegrass" here on RP. I put bluegrass in quotes because this has some unusual instruments not found in traditional versions. It's enjoyable nonetheless.

He wrote it, so he can do it however he wants, but I think the original arrangement was better, somehow. I'd have to compare side by side with this version but it sounds too modern. That probably just means it's nice and clean. The old 50s Flatt & Scruggs version is a tad grimy, I think. Anyway, it's still a solid 8. Y'hafta be careful with country classics, 'cause lots of the old-timers re-record their stuff any time they change record labels.

What in tarnation??...

Well, if you can play mainstream jazz on an "eclectic intelligent rock" station, then why not some mainstream bluegrass too?!? Go for it, Bill!

I promise not to berate any more jazz tunes as long as you keep some of this in your rotation.
