Bowie really has his classic vibrato and falsetto in fine form - very dramatic.

So nice to hear something from this underplayed Bowie album.

The Heathen is by far my favorite recent Bowie work - I can listen to that CD over and over.

BTW: Bowie gave an hour long interview around his 50th birthday several years ago. IFC played it several times. It's called "Earthling: Bowie at 50" (or something very close to that) and it's great if you can get past the annoying tricks the director/interviewer put into it. Bowie shines and shows why he's held a lot lot lot of public interest for 30+ years.

irregardless of his motivation- artistic, capitalistic or otherwise... you can count on one hand single artists who have cranked out a greater variety and volume of music over the past twenty. i'm no great fan of any one release after "station to station", but i recognize the creative energy that brought forth all the music since.

Even after hearing this song many many times since its release, it is still FABULOUS! Especially Townshend's outstanding guitar work, which reminds me of the great licks the late great SRV gave to Bowie's "Putting Out Fire with Gasoline (Cat People)". The whole Heathen album is tremendous, and comes damn close to his 70's classics.
