If RP really wants to be the eclectic radio they bill themselves as, Elvis had a ton of great, underappreciated gems, largely from the 1969-1973 period, like Green, Green Grass Of Home, that would sound fantastic here. You should definitely play more from the single most important and influential performer in American modern music.

Well, in your view, at least he had his 15 minutes of fame.

I agree that the most significant Elvis period was at the beginning of his career, though songs from later on, like Suspicious Mind, are often my favorites.

Peculiar, that the person who was, according to most people, the main force in popular music, is mainly a waste of time, in your opinion.

Banal it may be, but this one is great to sing out loud at those heady moments when your life seems to call for a musical soundtrack.

what's all this shouting about?

fact is, elvis was a spent force by the time the british invasion was occurring (why else would he need a 1968 "comeback special" on tv?). and since a lot of the british stuff has its roots in equal parts a)skiffle music and b) american folk and blues, you could say the british invasion was american.
i agree, but elvis was still huge.

What we listen to today has been influenced by a lot of different types of music. Elvis is a big part of that. Thanks for playing this.

I know I will incur the wraith of Elvis people, but I never did get behind this whole Elvis thing. Some of his songs were OK, but I do not own one Elvis album and never will.

YEAH!!!
Thanks for helping us remember where it all started. And you don't have to wait until the next anniversary of his death to play something by him. (Kind of odd that playing The King could be considered risky...)
