I know of a few bands that I did this to. Sometimes a "hit" comes out, slick and overplayed, and it's easy to tune it out. For me, sometimes it takes a few years of maturity, or life experience, or increased depth...who knows...but then I hear things again with new ears and do what you did. I slap my forehead in disbelief, amazed that I didn't see the brilliance when it was so obvious.
I thought 'Don't Dream it's Over' was dull, too. And now I think the Finn brothers are incredible...but it took some time to get there!

Very sweet and thougtful comment, "Kitty".

I guess it happens to everybody - me certainly too!

"Porcupine Tree" is one example.

The same rights I have to hear CH songs are the ones that allow you to keep making stupid comments.

I was making a simple comment that I don't care for Don't Dream it's Over, and that because of that I missed out on a lot of other great stuff.  You chose to devolve the issue into an attack on me.

I don't attack people for their opinions, even if they are idiots.  Everyone is entitled to their own and to post them to this forum.  That's why it's here.  However, I will attack people based on how they choose to express themselves.  Clearly, you chose to express yourself like a spoiled little girl with a diaper full of shit and deserve to be treated as such.

Looking back - this track was significant for me going through a messy divorce. One of those instances when a tune can bring to the front the feelings one had at the time.

"Uninspired and simple" is really suuuch an abuse.

Don't be such a Fred, Riley and blow things completely out of proportion!

Who takes "Four seasons in one day" as NEW WAVE is worth a statement!

Rest assured - if you took "Don't dream it's over" for "uninspired" or "New Wave" you

You are a simple and very uninspired person!

I had the pleasure of hearing them do this song live.  They really put on a great show and I hadn't heard this song until that concert.  Have been a fan ever since. {#Cheers}

Dammit.

I saw them in Wembley Arena years ago and they pulled a guy up from the crowd and let him pick this out on Neil's guitar. It was awesome.

I so needed to hear this tonight, thank you. I feel like I have been through the wringer and had all four seasons and then some just in the course of the day. Why? Because I did risk my neck again. Fell for someone I shouldn't have. Thank God for music - nothing heals quite like it.
