I'm actually a big fan of most of Smashing Pumpins songs. Especially the older ones.
But this is terrible I have to say. The original with Depeche Mode is about 1.000.000 times better and then I'm being conservative!

Hmm. It's certainly different from the Depeche Mode original, a distinctive cover, but IMO it makes the song too 'fluffy' and laid-back to really capture the gothic hard-edgedness of the original. Worth a bash, maybe, but I'll take the DM version, ta muchly.

Ok, but why make a great song whiney and boring?  {#Headache}

I kind of liked it when I first heard the instrumental sections, and even when I've heard Corgan's voice at the beginning, but then his voice went on whining and it made me think twice. I still like the guitar and drums... but the original is still the best. Good try though.

Has anyone heard the solo-stuff Corigan has put out since the Pumpkins? Check out the movie Spun and listen to the soundtrack, its incredible and befitting such an alt. drug induced situation. (pimp)

Gawd, I HATE the Smashing PUmkins.

Did you ever hear a more contrived and pretentious name than "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness???"

Vocals on this song are a little less annoying than usual.

The musical arrangement works for me. The vocals...not so much.

Partly due to how much I liked their earlier stuff and was extremely disappointed and irritated by their later, I try to keep an open mind about the Smashing Pumpkins, though after all these years I'm not sure why.

While I'd not like to hear how whiny Billy Corgan's voice really sounds without so much over-the-top processing (which seems to be on all of their recordings now), it kinda works on this song. Strange that it would be a Depeche Mode song for some reason, since David Gahan's voice is so strong by comparison.

Greay song, great group, questionable juxtaposition...but, I'm sure it will grow on me.

Smashing Pumpkins does a fine job at covering this Depeche Mode song!
