I saw these guys open for Medeski Martin and Wood a few years ago, they were joined by D.J. Logic (who also played with MMW that night).

I couldn't believe how good the show was, absolutley amazing. If NMAS are in your town anytime soon, you really ought to check them out. You won't be sorry.

I'm hearing more than a passing resemblance to Little Feat. That's a good thing.

I caught this show in my area, and it kicked ass! HIGHLY recommended! And Luther Dickenson can flat play. He just improved more and more as the show went on.

About half way through, this turns into a bad Ray Stevens song (if that not redundant).

Has anyone a recollection of a version of this song by an ensemble group consisting of Johnny Cash? It was some years back- 20 or so.

A pretty good attempt at Ry Cooderish arrangement. Musically polished.

If only they had something of their own to sing about

of all the songs the North Mississippi AllStars have done, this might be the only one I absolutely hate.

I saw the NMAS in November when they opened for the Drive by Truckers at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. This is really a band that falls short on the studio work, but live are not only rockin' but have a great blues-y quality. Lots of fun.

Bill, How about some Drive by Truckers? Heathens from the Decoration Day disc is one of my all time favorite songs!

They're amazing live, but their studio work falls short for me...

Also the drummer plays a mean washboard.

If you want to hear these guys play some rockin' blues (not at all Deadlike), check out "51 Phantom" or "Ship" from their second album.

you cannot rate the allstars as a band with this song. these guys rock the blues on this album with casey jones being the mildest thing on the disc. they can definetly play!

Sorry, guys.

I know the NMAS have the ear of the critics but this is one group that I can honestly say that the more I hear, the less I like.
