I also remember hearing this song, but with a little less fond memories. Every time I have heard this song was either in the grocery store or in an elevator. Never thought that RP would play MUSAK !!!!! :P I think appreciation of this crap is generational. I was born in 1969, and my friends and I spent our youths making fun of music like this. That being said, we also grew up wondering where the golden age of rock went (Cream, Dead, classic Stones, Traffic, etc.— love that music, and still do). It was then that we discovered "alternative rock" that was being played on college radio. Too bad all those "alternative rock" stations went corporate. My friends and I spent a lot of time making fun of The Dead and their fans - and I was born in 1962. Most of their music - to me - was tedious noodling, and still is. This music was fun, at least - even after the drugs ran out. |

Lighten up. It's nostalgia. And, it's completely harmless. Plus, I like it. :)

I was born in 1969, and I love this and many other Herb tunes. Your argument that appreciation for this style of music is generational may be flawed, but then again, my 77-year-old father-in-law is a big Herb fan, so maybe there is some truth to that after all! |

Wow! I'm 9, in the PI, and along with this, Mama's & Papa's, Beatles, Ray Price, and HAIR! I was in heaven, glad my mother was so "hip" then.

Me too! What a flashback!!! And wasn't the album cover a woman draped in whipped cream or was that another favorite of my parents' collection. . .? |

Omigod! It's Al Herbert and the Marijuana Brass!
It's nice to have this little reminder that somewhere in the world, someone at this very moment is watching Dating Game reruns ... |

This is just horrible. Even the Beatles couldn't rescue this song, but if you've got to play it I'd rather hear their version than this dreck.

Minneapolis' Soul Asylum parodied that album cover on one of their records. Truly disturbing: Clam Dip and Other Delights

Boy, that takes me back... to when I was a carfree yout. I have a vague recollection of a wooden record player (with tubes!) spinning a 45. What I wouldn't give to be able to reach back and slap some sense into that kid! |

Hot-cha! That cover jump-started puberty for me. I think the album was called "Whipped Cream and Other Delights". |

Could you PLEASE show a picture of the cover of that ALBUM on the webcam!
Great change of pace, and a great refreshing blast from the past for this 50 year old..

Other music from this album was used on the Dating Game for many years. Can't remember the title but I can mentally replay it almost flawlessly. |

Wasn't this one of the tracks off that horrible compilation off TV called "Instrumental Gold" ? I guess it's OK once in a while, say a year or so. :p

My dad has this album. The cover featured a nice lass draped in what appeared to be whipped cream. Once I got past that, I would listen to this and Zorba the Greek and Tijuana Taxi endlessly.
Great music, great choice Bill.
