I'm not averse to a bit of Supergrass. I like their second album In It For The Money very much, but this track, while fun, is inessential.

I enjoyed the pop/rock of Supergrass, how they shamelessly borrowed from a long litany of mostly Brit pop icons (Bowie, TRex, Beatles, Dave Clark Five...) to maintain their slightly above the radar status these past 17 years. Never took off in the States but understand they had a much larger following throughout Europe. Musical differences again. How sad.

Well, crap. I find a band that I can give a "9" to, and they split up.  RIP, Supergrass. I'll look for you in all your subsequent incarnations, and lament the once-whole.

Agree. I am so grateful to Bill for introducing me to their stellar works. In the top 20, minimum, of new-to-me RP favorites.

It's all over for the "The Grass"...

4/13/10—Britpop veterans SUPERGRASS have finally called it a day - 17 years after forming.

And, yes, in the finest rock tradition they have blamed "musical differences".

The rockers broke through in 1995 with summer hit Alright - including the lyrics "We are young, we run free, Keep our teeth, nice and clean," - when they were fresh-faced youths.

The band, drummer DANNY GOFFEY, frontman GAZ COOMBES, bassist MICK QUINN and keyboard player ROB COOMBES, will play four farewell shows in June starting at Glasgow Barrowlands on June 8.

The group said: "We still love each other but, cliche notwithstanding, musical differences have led to us moving on."

Distressing news. At least they went out on top. Road to Rouen is one of the finest pop albums of the last decade. RIP.

This post reminds me of an actual comment from a math challenged individual that I worked with briefly. When told of the sale price of certain product he said, and I quote, "If that's half price I'd hate to know the full price!" {#Lol}

My three year old daughter loves to dance to this one. She's got a friend with a trampoline and last winter we went out to check out mars most every night. She dances around the living room, with her elbows bent 90-degress, crankin' them in and out, then pipes in with "save your money for the children..." then I go "ooohh grace," then she goes "save your money..." Priceless.

Wonderful image - thanks for sharing. Is your daughter's name Grace by chance?

That would be perfect, KALINEVE. Alas, my daughter's name is Claire. However, she turned 8 last week—and still digs her some Supergrass. I throw it on later-day mixes, just for good measure!
