I'd buy your novel, or even a collection of your short stories.

Huh? Like Knopfler's a guy, and I think the metaphor falls apart from that point.

Cool song.  Feels older than it says.  Does anyone know if this is a cover?

Exactly what happened today to me. Sweet tune. A solid 9.

It would be nice to put up some of Mark's duo work with Chet Atkins, like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIKt_WQHia8

Very sweet.  Now time to play some other tracks of this project.  Maybe "Feel Like Going Home"?

Umm, if you click the link for the band you will see that no one uploaded "Feel like Going Home."  If you want to hear that track, I'd suggest you upload it.  If Bill and Rebecca give it the green light, it will hit the LRC.  If the LRC review people like it, than it will be played here.

As I understand it, there are a few things that come in directly to RP from the labels or artists, but by and large everything you hear was a listener upload.

Over the years, Mark Knopfler has stood the test of time, and like the proverbial good wine gotten better with age (although this song is 1990).  After tons of Dead shows and fierce loyalty to Neil Young, Knopfler is my favorite of all time.  He is never stuck, although that is so true of Neil too.

Love it, or not love it—it just doesn't get much smoother than this.  This is great stuff by almost any standard.

You base your opinion on one bad show instead of countless rave reviews and millions of sold recordings? The best concert I've ever seen and the worst concert I've ever seen have been with Peter Gabriel. Different nights, different stuff happens. Live shows are risky for artists, you shouldn't base opinions on the body of their work based on a bad night. I saw Dire Straits live and thought it was a pretty good show. Maybe the band was hung over the night you saw them and he was trying to compensate for slow drummers and off key bass? Just a thought.

It's definitely not bad, but he is always the crown piece in the band and that makes the other members only worse, especially with DireStraits....

I wanted to listen to this cd the other day.  I pulled out the case, opened it up, and the cd was missing!  I presume it's having a good time, wherever it is.  Hope it comes home soon.

{#Lol}  Thanks for the laugh, Queen!  This has happened to me so many times I can't even count.  I open a CD case with such great anticipation to hear one of my classic CDs and it's gone.  I bet some college buddies (supposedly) back in the day swiped 'em and I never found out.  Oh well, hopefully someone is enjoying them.

I'm stuck with this one.

I don't like it, if I'm honest.

But is that because it's tired? Is it formulaic? Is it, as someone said further down, boring? I don't know!

Perhaps a combination of all of them if I'm honest. It really does nowt for me.

Funny, I feel exactly opposite - I feel it has held up really well.  Then again,it was on my lofty perch to begin with

Wow, that's not good. It *is* a great album and deserves more play. No, it's not full of pounding and wailing guitars but it's a lot of fun.
