Caught these guys at ACL Fest and they rocked. But this particular song stood out because she was horribly off-pitch for the whole thing. Made my teeth hurt. But on this recording, it's outstanding. |

See this band live. Suddenly "downtempo" becomes a tribal thumping party experience with way more energy than that which comes across in the studio recordings. They tour with a full live bandhorns, percussion and an incredible bassist, and a revolving list of vocallists. I saw them in Chicago last summer and they stole the show at Lollapalloza.

I've had this CD for several years now and I don't care what genre we all try to label it, it is just a solid, well put together CD with songs that mesh and still sound good after all this time. If you are moving too fast to appreciate it, trying slowing down and listen. X serves this purpose well.  |
