One single album, the selftitled one, and this band became a cult band.

I gave it a 10 the first time I heard it back in the 70's.  {#Music}

Love the song, but the 3 heads on one body cover art always kinda creeped me out.

It's all about perception, and this song is as equally celestial as a wanting for scotch that is out of this world.

ELP vs. Phish?? Oh, geez. Glad you made the right decision. What were you drinking at the time? I think a well-built Guinness trumps tequila. A single-malt scotch (Glenmorden) knocks it out of the ballpark.  I love this song. I love ELP - more lately, as I get older...

Spent many high school days doing homework and listening to this (and other ELP) on headphones.  Cranked.  Still great music and a fun connection to my youth.

Priceless and precious!  Overplayed in its day, but still sounding awesome!
I recall driving out across the Kansas State Line to drop in and pay a visit to a flame from school who worked at Tiger Records over there (was maybe only 9 or 10 miles from the part of KC we called home turf), and just after I had gotten my hopes raised (she praised and raved about my concert photos of Kansas, The Who, Rush, and others), my heart cracked open and fell to the floor when this song came over the store sound system, because she sighed and rolled her eyes, "Lake...oh, God..."  I said, "What —?" and again, she sighed: "Lake.  Greg Lake.  Ya know?  God, what a dream he is..."  I saw it in her eyes, heard it in her voice, saw it in her posture — and gave up and left.  Was I jealous of his infinite power, beyond all reason or logic?  I was a teenager — of course I was.  I got into my 1970 Cutlass S Coupe, cranked up April Wine's I Like to Rock, and hauled ass to buy beer; in Kansas the legal age was then 18, and boy was I glad of that...

i had this drunken debate years ago over whether ELP or Phish was better.. (this was in '98, i think). i still say ELP. timeless.

Since Kanye can't sing a lick, this is a positive development. BTW, IMHO Lake has been badly underrated as a musician. His bass on this song is mesmerizing.

Greg Lake's abilities shouldn't be overlooked.  His vocals and bass with King Crimson are outstanding, and his work with ELP was no less stellar.  Maybe you don't like the material, but you can't deny the talent.

Totally forgotten about most of the ELP I used to listen to as a young teenager!  Thank you so much for reminding how good some of it was.  I agree with below, timeless.
