John used to always introduce this song with the line:
"And now a song with drug overtones"
I do miss him, a great talent who was just being re-discovered.

Well, makes me wanna turn the radio off. Somehow this queer Buddhist has no problem with choral settings of the latin mass, but this still gives me the willys. Toe-tappin bluegrass for sure , but still......

Good toe-tapping song, I only miss Hartford's own shoes dancing in the background. I am a Jewish atheist. And I love bluegrass and old time string band music, the Christian songs no less than the rest. I could live without some of the spiritual messages, but give me that old time music! And it might as well be here on RP.

made me think twice about gospel, & bluegrass...

Yes, I'm afraid you are way off. This is a very old song, harkening back to the days when gospel songs were in heavy rotation. You see, Christian music used to be pretty popular, back in the days when there were still Christians. But if you listen real carefully, on some am stations during the wee hours of Sunday morning, you can still hear what he's talking about.

Unless you're the *only one* hearing it... (in your head) then it could be very very bad...

Apart from that... this song still suck ;)
Out of all the myriad of influences that can and will influence an artist, why does a christian influence automatically make music less legitimate?
That's crazy... |

Excellent! Glad to see more Hartford made it to the playlist. I had thought about uploading this but since the others I'd tried were a bust . . .
Anyway, great song and I'll keep trying for more
