She just gets on my nerves now.

Used to think she was great - with the Eurythmics, and her first album.

But she tries too hard now. Enunciating each vowel and emotion. Aaargh

A millions times better than that Emiliana Torrini song on the "Two Towers" soundtrack. I sat through the credits for this one. Several times.

I would say exactly the opposite.  Torrini's performance was riveting in Gollum's Song.  This does nothing for me.  I admire Lennox's singing abilities, but this particular song is not a very good showcase of her talent.

He did an excellent job.

The only criticism that I can even begin to offer is the ending.  In the books the Hobbits go back to the Shire to find that Saruman and some humans have destroyed everything so Frodo and the Hob's run them off.

I found that "rebirth" of the Shire to be the prelude to the departure on the ships that tied everything together.

But even with leaving out that one part, the movies were excellent.

...the second two films were significant letdowns, but at least this song closes the epic on a properly cathartic high note...

Me too, but unfortunately because I can't stand this caterwallin!  {#Puke}  I LOVED the Eurythmics, but lately Annie just isn't doing it for me.  I realize I am in the minority here.

I'm still so glad that Annie Lennox won an Oscar for this song and so sorry that I missed her when she came to Colorado this last year.
