Too bad there isn't more Himmelman played on RP. His songs blend in well. His latest is well worth the cost, great stuff. He's an amazing musician and I'm glad to say I have seen him live several times.

Haunting and beautiful, but wrong.
Yo, dolfan, I have to disagree with you. This is an excellent song b/c it is written about a specific moment and feeling that is pure and true -- at that moment. It's hard to think of any decent and moving song that is also true all of the time. Think about it: "We are the Champions." Temporary. "Rock You Like a Hurricane". True, it's not a decent song, but it's also complete hyperbole, unless sung by a severe tropical storm.
I think ole' Peter is singing about an emotion here, not giving advice. You get the idea. Anyway, I've seen him three or four times and I can honestly say that each show was totally spontaneous and unique -- more so than any other artist I've seen multiple times. I recommend checking him out.
Cheers,
Frank |

Did that have anything to do with the breakup?
Sorry, but just went back and found this, and couldn't let it pass...

Being a homegrown Minnesotan and seeing him a long, long time ago it's easy to appreciate what a great and underappreciated songwriter he is...Long live Duluth!!! |

Ummm... you guys are aware that Peter Himmelman is Bob Dylan's son-in-law??
I'm not a huge fan of the sensitive singer-songwriter types, but when i was married my ex LOVED this guy. I've seen him live with his band and several times solo, and it's about the best performance you'll see all year if you can catch him. Deep, intense, introspective songs of relationships gone wrong, etc... and between songs, the funniest, most sarcastic & sardonic chat you've ever heard. it's hilarious to see all these women crying during his songs, and then breaking up in between. I've seen him pull guys from the audience and make 'em do "interpretive dance", and even take cell phones from the crowd and try to call "bob". (His Dylan imitation is pretty good, too).

This sounds like Dylan meets Randy Newman, vocally.

It's tough to make the Dylan sound work, even for Dylan, but when it works it's far out. This is far out!
