All of Ali Farka-Toure's albums are good, but this is still one of the best. Love this tune. Wonder if ASCO and Lasidan are on the RP playlist? They should be!

Lasidan is IMNSHO by FAR the best track on this album, but it's currently not on the RP playlist.

On today's GeoQuiz, can you name the city where this journey started?

That is very informative.  I'm a huge public radio listener and I often wondered about the differences.  Thanks for the info!

I knew that this is the intro music for The World.  I was scrolling down to see if anyone else noticed it.

More truth than fiction, you're getting close...

Drive through daiquiri joints place a piece of transparent tape over the X shaped hole in the lid of a styrofoam cup, so it's not (technically) an open container. Well behaved consumption on this stretch of brackish water is not enforced, but 6mph over the speed limit will likely result in an overly dramatic takedown by a special force in vehicles dedicated to patrolling this bridge.

Anyone who likes this song should buy the whole album. It's amazing all the way through.

this is the kind of album you put on in the background when friends are over for dinner... 3 out of any 10 people will ask who it is and want to run out and get themselves a copy (it would be 8 out of 10 for the RP crowd - i'm sure Stingray and Papernapkin could find a way to hate it).

I'm laughing at myself because when I heard this come on, I was expecting a Geo Quiz from PRI's The World ( http://www.theworld.org/geo-quiz/ ).  Geo Quiz uses this as a "theme music".  Good song either way.  Thanks, RP, for showing me the rest of the song!

Excellent. My brother gave me an Ali Farka Tour album for Christmas a couple years ago. I had never heard of the band, but it was so different and refreshing. Love it!
