One of the few Patty songs that I don't find amazing. This track is probably my least favorite. |

I hear a suburban brat trying to show us her angst. Geez Morisette, what have you started.

Check out the lyrics to this song. They're truly wonderful. Takes dead aim at the hypocrisy of the Church. Great stuff.
WIGGLY FINGERS
I'll never be sad and I'll never be lonely
I'll never be hungry and I'll never be homely
I never make a noise when I'm kissing a boy
Amen amen
Old John Paul is keepin' a tab
In his big red folder
At night he is dreaming
Of hollow candle holders
As big is the weight of the world
on his shoulders
Amen amen
Yeah and he's keeping those dirty little wiggley fingers to himself
And he sees you keeping your dirty little wiggley fingers to yourself
You're always keeping those dirty little wiggley fingers to yourself
Always keeping those dirty little, oh yeah
You're shakin' the tree baby
You should be shaking the bed
You're rockin' the boat but
You should be rocking your head
All the family's watching
Sixty Minutes instead
Amen amen
Yeah and you're keeping those dirty little wiggley fingers to yourself
Keeping your dirty little wiggley fingers to yourself
Keeping those dirty little wiggley fingers to yourself
Always keeping those dirty little..
And they'll send you flying right out of St. Francis Xavier
With a note to your daddy about your unspeakable behavior
And who in the hell is gonna be your savior now
Everyone says love is a labor
And so I guess you go call a sex line
If you want to love your neighbor
I'll stay right here
And I'll just get a little safer and safer
Amen amen
You know I'm always keeping my dirty little wiggley fingers to myself
Always keeping those dirty little wiggley fingers to myself
Keeping those dirty little wiggley fingers to myself
Always keeping my dirty little..
And they'll send me flying right out of St. Francis Xavier
With a note to my daddy about my unspeakable behavior
And who in the hell said I need a savior anyhow
I got the dirty little wiggley fingers
I got the dirty little wiggley fingers
I love to feel the little wiggley
I love the dirty little wiggley
I love to feel the little wiggley
I love the dirty little wiggley
Dirty
Little
Fingers
Yeah

I'm a huge fan of Patty but didn't really know about Flaming Red (for some reason!) until I heard One Big Love the other day on RP. She's got quite a few rockers on this CD, including this one - great vocal range / attitude - shows off her ability to incorporate the band.

She's got a great and powerful voice and this song rocks! Like it very much... |

PG wasn't thrilled with this album, which has a lot more production going on than her later stuff. But truthfully, it rocks. It's grown on me with time and now I like it as well as any of her stuff. PG's the real deal.

Been familiar with her name, but not her music. Now I've got another album on my wish list. Thanks, RP!

This tune rocks more than any other that is played on RP. I love it but we need more rock and roll!

I do love this album, but I believe that all of her albums have the power to turn someone into a fan upon listening to them. |

1st impression of Patty Griffin: at the half-shell along the Charles River in Boston, 1997. Earth Day concert - thousands of people. Tiny figure, red hair visible from far out. HUGE voice. Tiny body. WHO is that amazing voice? The strength was continuous - the beauty and the passion. More sophisticated, varied sound, now. She's sure experimented past the point of being that gigantic voice full of passion and strength, with a guitar and painful words.

You won't be disappointed. I think it's her best album; it certainly rocks the hardest of all her CDs. One terrific song after another. |

I'm stunned. My favorite Patty Griffin song to this point has been Long Ride Home. First heard here and probably the best funeral themed song I've ever heard. But it doesn't even sound like it came from the same planet as this, much less the same artist. I have no choice but to check out this entire album.
