This song first hit me at a particularly vulnerable age — puberty. Man, was I ever lost in a fantasy of perfect love, of honey hair kissed with grateful tears. Back in those days, though, if you were a geeky 12-year-old boy (or at least THIS geeky 12-year-old boy) you were pretty much limited to making out with your coat's fur collar. I shudder to think how kids would react to this song today; probably it reminds them of an old sexual encounter they had when they were 10...

i hear ya, some five years later.  my romantic fantasy song...{#Kiss}

Not one of their better efforts, "Acceptable" none the less.

Lovely and spare. Not a wasted note or breath. Brings tears to my eyes and goosebumps on my arms.

I didn't name my first-born emily because of this song, but it makes it that much sweeter that I did.

Exquisite is right ... absolutely gorgeous. Simon's words, Garfunkel's angelic voice. Fulfilled a lifetime dream getting to see them perform live last year, thought I blew my last chance in '81/'82. (Steely Dan was the other group I thought I would never have the pleasure of experiencing live but luckily did.)

Anyone heard or seen the live DVD / CD of last year's concert? I haven't yet but plan to.

Randy

The DVD is awesome! Great song selection great performance....sadly, this song is not there, but lots more are. Garfunkel's vopice is still incredible, and the shared "Bridge Over Troubled Water" vocals are spine tingling. A must have!
But Bill, why is CARLY Simon looking at us up above???

Absolutely. And, of course, we don't need to be reminded of what Simon could do with a song!

This song unfortunately lends itself to being irretrievably attached to whatever girl was breaking your heart when you first got into Simon & Garfunkle. Still a 7, but it loses some of its replay value. Luckily, I was far too young to actually be in love.

i'm pretty sure this is the studio version from Parsley Sage Rosemary & Thyme, unless you were referring to another recording. there was a time when i listened to this album daily, in an almost constant loop (ahhh, to be 14 again) and i'm sure if this were an alternate version i'd know it immediately.
