Great soundtrack by Goran by the way, I suggest the movie "Black Cat, White Cat" for anyone interested in this kind of music and the cheerful spirit it embodies.
I'll upload a track or two from that OST as well.

Yeah the first thing I thought was Mardi Gras when I heard this and I had to check just what it was. 'Never heard Slavic folk 'til now. You can tell there's a party going on somewhere. |

Now here's why I love RP. I'm giving this song a 4, but the fact that Bill plays it is why I love RP.

This album was conceived as the OST for "underground" (the kusturica's one, not that other crap...)..So lads watch the movie and think again about the rating.....IMHO a truly deserved 8...

This is not Klezmer. That could be why it's not such good Klezmer.
It's also not the greatest Celtic music, and it's not Bob Dylan's best performance either.
As Balkan music, it's absolutely marvelous!
Well put! And BTW: great movie. |

This was a thoroughly strange movie, I loved some of it but my overall experience was just "what the hell?". Didn't help that I really felt like I was missing a lot of the subtext and symbolism.
Gotta say, the music is immediately identifiable after hearing it for 2.5 hours or whatever the movie ran. Made me laugh to hear it again. :)
Of course, in my world the natural song to follow Underworld - Trim and a song from the movie "Underground" is Tom Waits - Underground. I just love any excuse to hear Tom Waits though... :)

"Trance polka"? Great descriptions! I'll be watching for more.
The drumming's fun but those horns need more than one riff. But I guess if you're dancing at a wedding (presumably snockered) you probably couldn't care less.
in kosturica's films not only the wedding guests are snockered. everybody is generally plastered throughout... |
