I'm hoping one day Bill will get a wild hair and play "Pattern Recognition".

Wish I'd appreciated SY back in the 90s when I saw them open for Neil Young, and again at Lollapalooza. I remember thinking then, "What a load of noise." What I'm thinking now is, "What a load of genius!"

Thurston Moore, more likely. Sounds like the usual suspects.

I was just thinking about how amazingly, wonderfully dischordant this is -- great stuff.

Great song... but you know, Sonic Youth has been around from 1981; they have an amazing discography. Yet, It seems a couple tracks from 2004's Nurse and one other track from 1995's Washing Machine (which is, quite honestly, one of the band's weaker albums) are all that are played on Radio Paradise! I notice the following are rejected: Candle, Dirty Boots, Disappearer, JC, Teen Age Riot, The Diamond Sea, The Empty Page. These are great songs!

the empty page has since been added, thank you very much.

sonic youth is difficult to fit into playlists, though, you've gotta remember.

The song is meh but the singer--he sounds like when the radio suddenly goes off and you hear yourself singing in the car. Off key, thin and expressionless.

I can't take it any more. After hearing three songs from this album in the last 24 hours, I have to buy it. Thanks Bill.

oddly, this is only the second time our paths have crossed. the first, i was dancing to their countdown to white noise (83? 84?) in the sleaziest club in the naugatuck valley (and that's saying something) and now this wonderful haunting and oddly melodic work. go figure!

Reminds of Joe Henry's lyric

Tell the bed not to lay
Like the mouth of a grave

Beds are, of course, metaphorically loaded.

Sonic Youth reminds me very much of the SF acid rock scene. After Bathing at Baxters comes to mind.
