Damn skippy that's a bear there. The bear Jim James and the band had to fight it with nothing more than a socket wrench in hand on one of their hiking trips, I like to believe.

Real men, they are. This tune always hypes me up.

I thought it was the insides of a home built submarine... with a bear thrown in for good measure.

Probably because the vocals were recorded in an empty grain silo?

I enjoy the production and the reverb on the vocals; everything doesn't have to sound like Steely Dan or Barbra Streisand.

Everyone sings well when you have excessive reverb on your voice.  That's why people sing in the shower.  But it's the equivalent of having to pour ketchup on steak.

If you'd seen him live, and then made that claim, you might have a valid argument.

I completely agree. The first time I heard it, I was rather indifferent. The more I listened, the more it got under my skin.

It sounds like he's singing in some giant, undampened hall, or maybe a cave.  I don't like the effect one bit.  It's grating!   Actually, come to think of it, the sound in general on this sound is just grating.  The cymbals, oh god, they just don't stop!  I can tell I'd like it if they upped the production a tad, though, so I guess it's a 4.

Personally, I think he has an awesome voice. Very fitting to the style, sound, etc ...

Great start, it actually had me tapping fingers.
Then he opened his mouth.

Not my favorite MMJ song but good nonetheless. I can't wait to see them (again) at Lollapalooza.

Holy smokes. This mix is so bad it made it impossible to tune out. Never would have realized that was the reason.
ed.: I have no idea whether the mix is bad or good.  Not being an expert.  But, man, I sure do not like it.

I couldnt fgure out what they were going for with the mix or why. It is a shame with todays techs and the sound they put down. This CD could have been so much more.
