Isn't this sort of a backstreet boy song they used to play years ago? "This Goes Out to You"? or "This is Going out to Everyone"? just a different pop version of a pop song that's just poppy?

This is a decent tune—however her albums have an inconsistent quality and never hold up to the promise of her mega song "Sway".

Poor woman, boxed between Elliot smith and Joni Mitchell.
Her little girly voice never had a chance.

Which is the way it should be, I reckon.

Nice to hear some NZ tunes, I just got back from a few months down down under! Agree with your comment...it was really cool to see the great pride in local music (and there is a ton of great NZ music!)...and nice for visitors like me to walk into any music store and have a dedicated "New Zealand" section to raid.

I agree with your comments. It was interesting when I lived there how certain songs from NZ, Aus. and Great Britian gained popularity way before they hit North America. Then when I came back to Canada, some of these same songs were just starting to get radio play. Worked well if you liked the song, sucked if you didn't like it the first time.

I like Bic's voice and the way she uses it. I'll have to check out this album. Plus, I like knowing that she sounds just as good live as she does in the studio.

Cliche-salad lyrics sung w/ boring, occassionally awkward phrasing, backed w/ mediocre music. Not offensive, but doesn't inspire me to go find any more of her work.

By American standards NZ has a tiny population, around 4 million. One where you somehow feel that you know every second person - not too dissimilar from the way it is here in Ireland, also with a population of around 4 million.

Calling universe! Give this woman a proper listen! Beautiful Collision is full of really good songs. Also listen to: Together in Concert: Live from Tim Finn/Dave Dobbyn/Bic Runga.

She is a natural talent and totally worthy of the same success internationally as she got in NZ

Lovely. I've got two of her albums and they are both appealingly solid. And solidly appealing.

Have to keep in mind, Bic Runga is part of the Finn Bros. stable, which hugely legitimizes her. She opened for them on their recent tour and, to me, came across, as more "cool" than "girl."

Great addition. A total favorite over on Rock Chicks Radio.

But Rebecca! Letting in a little pop, 'eh? ;)
