Exactly, me too. I've recently started to acquire this taste, and like Jay Farrar's voice quite a lot, but maybe best in smallish doses - like Scotch.

IMHO, much of Jay's work is this real, even the very latest. All Son Volt albums are continually in my top 5%, and the MP3 players have not been void of some Son Volt since, well, since they were invented. That said, Trace is the best, just barely, by a chord.
