Why isn't it obvious that the world has for several decades simply been going through an economic "equalization process"?  Why should the vast majority the world's wealth and influence rest solely in the hands of "The West"?  Isn't it a bit selfish and ethnocentric to think that any country outside of North America and Europe is somehow backward, inferior, and/or undeserving of a higher quality of life?  Are Chinese or Indians or Brazilans any less human than Canadians or Germans?  It's not necessarily a zero-sum game.  As China rises the West will have an opportunity to do business with over a billion new consumers.  While the environmental impact of this rise will need to be moderated through increased pressure through trade and diplomacy, countries that learn how to compete with these resourceful people will not suffer as much as the "doomsday" pundits claim.

Anyway, the song was just OK in my opinion (I gave it a 6), but it did serve as an interesting springboard for other discussion . . .
