Driving through Nebraska in the summer of '96, and it's also about 96 degrees outside. For some reason, a whiny, nasally Liam Gallagher cropping up on the dial crooning this Beatle-esque "Revolver knockoff" had a cooling & calming effect.

Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball.
That's just stupid.

Whiny first half. Then kick ass. Still a bit of an '80ish mashup.

Funny how I always dismissed this band as Johnny Come Latelies when living in the US. When I moved across the pond in the late '90s a British friend lent me this album and I gave them another chance. My opinion changed drastically after a couple of listens.

I never rated this band back when they were hotter than the sun in the UK (not that its hard to be hotter than the sun in the UK). But in recent years I’m starting to think that I may have under rated them.

Have you heard of the bands that influenced those bands? Quick measuring dicks. Makes no difference in this world of anonymous. |

Odd how this is only rated a 6.3 here. notwithstanding the antics of the Gallaghers, they pumped out some instant classics. Like this one. Oh well.

One of the best bands of the 90's and I'm not even their biggest fan, you lot probably haven't even heard of Blur, Pulp or even The Stone Roses.

A champagne supernover in the sky! I always thought this song was sort of campy and silly. This is a band who thinks pretty highly of themselves too as I recall.

Sorry, I can not agree, dear fellow. In so many times i have followed you, but now... (someday I thinak I will ask why you are "romeotuma". I mean: I know the family Tuma, and I sometimes met Mr. Romeu Tuma, Sr., and I know his son (also named Romeu Tuma, Jr.) and his younger son) So, I am very curious about this... But someday... someday... |

You must understand that the artists the evoke the most negative commentary are usually unique and talented in ways that are not universally accepted as "good". The critics here kill most of the bands that I love the most. Bill plays them anyway. |

Relax dude, and no need for the name calling "ignorant losers." Many here in the states of a certain age were not emersed in the Brit pop scene of the 90's. However these guys did get quite a bit of play - radio and music press - around this song - a great great pop rock song in my book - and album. Most of us had to dig to learn about and listen to the early Blur,Pulp and Stone Roses. I'm sure an easily parallel could be made about the UK exposure to and reaction to the American rock bands that either gained fame here or over there or went unnoticed in the wake of Nirvan's success |
