Even a crappy Aimee Mann tune is pretty good.

Upon hearing this...I'm thinking 1. Oh this is Aimee Mann...like her. 2. Why the hell is she covering a song by a band barely old enough to know who SHE is. 3. I'd rather hear original material of hers. No hatred towards Coldplay...just...."why?"

Clever programming! :) I prefer the original, but this version is OK too.

Okay, So I love this song so much, that each cover reminds of the original and puts me in a comfortable, sort of melancholy place. Is that a good thing?

There's only one question you need to ask when you hear this record ... "WHY did you do it Aimee, WHY?"
Actually two questions: that one and then "I'm sorry you haven't been well. What are you taking for your bad cold?"

just.too.darn.nasally. And it has the usual Aimee Mann jump-off-a-bridge-with-concrete-shoes feel to it.

I've heard at least 12 people do this song. Aimee Mann to Willie Nelson to American Idol contestants, a few other big names and of corse Coldplay. Everyone of them is GREAT. Why?
It's A GREAT Song

Wow, I'm surprised to see all the negative comments for this song. I like the combo of Aimee's vocal treatment and the Coldplay song which I already liked. While I suppose I do prefer the original, I'll give this a 7.

Sorry but this is so close to the original as to add nothing. Agree, this sucks (and that is out of my character to even say that, much less think that). A cover should either be a complete reinterpretation (All along the Watchtower comes to mind) or at the very least a modernization of a classic (or forgotten) gem. I suppose it would'a been cool to hear it covered live but other than that I vote to play the Coldplay original. Coldplay may be very commercial now but I think they got to their ranking in the world for a reason. Secondly, I should say that a limited selection of an artist should inspire one to delve into the rest of her music. I've never heard of Aimee Mann but this cover (and I agree nasally rendition) is a disservice to her as an artist b/c it makes me want to avoid the rest of her music. |

Ok, I'm guessing that RP doesn't like the Chrome browser... Almost every time I hit the PSD button, the current stops, but nothing starts in it's place. The current song playing link and pictures changes... just no tunes.
