3 - Rather mechanized, unoriginal, and boring backing track. Don't find his vocalizing anything special either. Only thing special for our mostly English-speaking audience is that he is is singing in English. |

Yes, because English is such a lyrical language... Why listen to an "eclectic" station if all you want to hear is the same old thing? |

I have no idea what he's singing/saying but it's such a beautifully delivered vocal, so heartfelft. Proof of music being the universal language.

Well, this song motivated me to create a login for RP, even tho I've been a loyal listener for over five years now.
I love this song, and was surprised to hear it on RP. It is a sufi song and like all sufi songs is focused on the mystical. I could go on but, then Wikipedia probably says it a lot better: (click here)
Here are the lyrics, translated directly from the music video:
(repeat verse)
Bulla! I know not who I am
Bulla! I know not who I am
Bulla! I know not who I am
Bulla! I know not who I am
Nor am I the believer in the mosque,
Nor am I in the rituals of the infidel,
Nor am I the pure or the impure.
Nor am I inherent in the vedas,
Nor am I present in the intoxicants,
Nor am I lost nor corrupt.
Nor am I in union nor grief,
Nor am I intrinsic in the pure and impure
Nor am I of water nor of the world,
Nor am I of fire nor air.
(repeat verse)
Nor am I an Arab, nor Lahori,
Nor am I Indian, nor Peshauri,
Nor am I Hindu, nor Turk Peshawri,
Nor did I create the differences of faith,
Nor did I create adam and eve,
Nor did I seek name for myself
Beginning and end I know just the self,
Do not acknowledge duality,
There's none wiser than I,
Who is this Bulla Shah?
(repeat verse)
Nor am I moses or the Pharaoh,
I am not asleep nor am I wakeful,
Nor am I fire nor the wind,
I do not stay in Nadaun,
I am not in inertia nor in travel,
Who is this Bulla Shah?
(repeat verse)
(fade)

What a fantastic song! I've loved it for years.
Everyone should watch the video on You Tube--it makes the song incredibly meaningful (if you don't speak Rabbi's language).

As an indo that sometimes "pushes out the jive more than he brings in the love (See Mr. Burns; the episode where Homer gets fat and wears the mumu)" with those 'Slims, this song is cool and eye-opening. Read up about Sufism. Beautiful faith. And that's a Hindu saying that.
