I love Big Country. Their last studio album (Driving to Damacus, 2001?) was their best ever, IMO. It's great when a band can release so much good stuff. I keep discovering new stuff that makes me like them even more. Case in point: I have over 10 Big Country albums and have never heard this song.

I liked it until the vocals began. Then even the riff lost it's appeal.

I almost lost patience with this one... there it goes.

The thing about his voice is that you either find it very lovely, calming and tender; or you find it to be irritating.
I think this band is very complex and alluring musically. His voice is unique and equally alluring. And although they may seem dated in the 80s, their music is still vibrant.

Not spectacularly bad, but not something I desperately need to hear again. The singing is flat.

To me this song sounds dated (i.e. firmly planted in the 80s), but the Kinks' Victoria that played just before doesn't. As they say in my native state--Go figure.

Their debut album was actually called The Crossing. You're right about the "great band" part though.

We'll wait and see what everyone else has to say, but so far it's just you.

When I first discovered RP and the LRC, it became my mission to make sure RP's listeners were aware that my favorite band had a lot more to offer than "In A Big Country".

Coming right after the Kinks' Victoria, I wonder if the juxtaposition of two different styles of the same (non)tune is a comment or a question?

Now, with the addition of "Chance" and "Over The Border", I hope a few people will be encouraged to check out some of Big Country's back catalogue.

With eight studio albums, countless live albums, and several collections of rarities to choose from, I think I'll be able to find a few more RP-worthy tracks before I'm done.

I had no idea they had that much material out. loking forward to hearing more.

There is a greatest hits package out for them that you might want to give a listen to.

This sucks.

Oh geez, now we're agreeing twice in the same hour. I think the world must be ending. ;-)

This sounds like Big Country collaborated with Phillip Glass. That's not a good thing.
