I had this exact same thought. Glad to see I'm not the only one. |

I usually go for the tune first, which in this case is pretty good.
Then I started reading the comments on the lyrics and finally listening to them.
Yeesh.

I like a lot of other VAST songs, but this one doesn't grab me.

Ah, the era of carillon bell midi samples.
I guess Enya had to be outdone.

Courage the Cowardly Dog is on. This gets muted. No contest.

"You left me high and dry and changed me"
Say no more: 20-something angst. Those who don't get it, didn't get it.

Maybe because nobody has to SAY they're angry, you can usually tell it by their demeanor. But in this case he's saying he's angry, but doesn't necessarily seem too mad. He's like the person that when you tell a joke, they say "That's funny." but don't actually laugh.
For me, it's the 'Na na na..' section. Strangely tricky lyric to get away with - doesn't work in this song.

There's a place not that far from here
Where people go when their dreams have died
As I walk from it's faceless streets
I must be the last one alive
Where are you, you're not with me
Numb my mind with this fantasy
Watching people live and die on screen
Where are you, you're not with me
Where are you, I'm free
You left me high and dry it changed me
You lied to me now I am angry
And if the sun comes in your room
And awakes you from your vanity"
You won't find me "cause I'll be
On top a mountain pissing on your grave
Na, na, na...
There's a place from where I just arrived
And I escaped the last one alive
Where are you
You're not with me
Where are you
I'm free
You left me high and dry it changed me
You lied to me now I am angry
And if the sun comes in your room
And awakes you from your vanity"
You won't find me "cause I'll be
On top a mountain pissing on your grave
... you could say that ...? |
