Extraordinary rendition by Neil Young of the song "Walking to New Orleans" (by Bobby Charles, written for and recorded by Fats Domino).

"Im 14 and just started listening to blues, found artist like muddy waters bo diddley neil young bb king and more realizing that these artist are at the heart of music. This is better than new fake artist who make songs with weird lyrics. this music is real words from the heart."     2010Ajholmes

"There's some good old stuff. You might want to check out Chess Record label (search YT). But don't write off your own generation, there's some good stuff being produced today, and many will be tomorrow's classics. So research music roots by all means, but keep an open outlook. A wide music experience is better than a narrow one."      Buzzer365

Still cheering for y'all in N'awlins. I hope it doesn't sound cold, but every empty lot keeps the corporate clowns from buying y'all out and building some sort of cheap Disney style copy of what the place used to be.

Stay tough down there...

Aiiiiiyyeeeeeeeee!

Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?

Chicken, shrimps, crawdads?

I used to regularly eat the stew at the Camelia Grill on Tuesdays. Of course, on Mondays - the only question the waitress would ask is "hot or smoked"? Sausage, that is, for my red beans and rice.

Those days, it seems, are gone.

For the Hurricane Katrina benefit telethon, Neil Young did a great cover of Fat's song. The original is most excellent too.

Happy Mardy Gras too! God bless thos in NO & elsewhere still suffering from Katrina.

Well, this song is prescient. But Fats should have been running from New Orleans, instead of walking to it. Fortunately, he's been found alive and well:

The legendary ‘Blueberry Hill’ singer who was reported missing in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, by his daughter Karen Domino White, has been declared fine though ‘a bit stressed out’ by his agent.

Domino who chose not to leave New Orleans, told the Washington Post: “We’ve lost everything” and that he simply didn’t know what to do next.

He added: “I’m worried about all the people of New Orleans…Tell them I love them, and wish I was home with them. I hope we’ll see them soon.”

Domino’s friends and relatives were concerned about his whereabouts until Thursday, when one of his daughters recognised the artist being helped out of a rescue boat, in a photo published by the New Orleans Times-Picayune

Thank God he was found safe!!
