BNL get stereo-typed as a novelty band and while there is that aspect to them, they are a really tight band live and can pull off solid "serious" music such as this.

Another great song is their cover of Bruce Cockburn's "Lovers In A Dangerous Time"

This song has an enduring quality. I always love to hear it. I think that may be because it works on several levels and captures a state of mind that many—not only Brian Wilson and Steven Page of BNL—can relate to. Been there too. You?

One band? Must have been a VERY dull decade for you.

No. That would be her loss (and would appear to be a huge mistake, especially to those of us who don't like BNL).

A  seven.  At least it's better than the theme from the Big Bang Theory.

One of my favorite BNL songs and the fact that you're starting my Friday morning with it is yet another reason why Radio Paradise rules!

I stepped away from my desk for two minutes and missed this perfect piece of pop peppiness.

Are there still late-night record shops if you were to drive downtown in the rain to check them out on a weeknight? Probably not. Boy I miss Brian Wilson.

Allow me to offer a hearty ditto. I think every single word (after the "A") in birdland's quote betrays musical ignorance.
One could start with the idea that BNL was dreamed up by an A&R guy (as opposed to guys who started busking and EARNED their success), go on to scoff at his description of them as a "novelty act" which shows a startling lack of knowledge about their catalogue, and round off the evening with the easy and abundant proof that, contrary to birdland's judgements, they are lacking in musical skill. Utterly absurd. They may not be to everyone's taste - few on RP can be - but they're still a group of very talented guys. Period.

Steven Page on lead vocals. He is no longer a member of the BNLs. He has just released a solo album called Page One.
