Not one of my favorite Aimee Mann songs, but very good nonetheless.  Actually, I liked the movie more than this song.

Changed my mind, Aimee! OK, I will marry you!

I love this song, but I keep hearing the bass that enters after the first chorus as playing a "wrong" note on the lower chords. It's hard to put my finger on it, but I find it's most prominent on the "so _just_ give up".

No it didn't. It was written specifically for Magnolia. Just like when she wrote Christmastime for PTA's Hard Eight.

I know Bill catches a little heat for spinning this one a fair amount. I've heard it on RP dozens of times myself and it still it hits me right between the eyes every time I hear it. (Geez...I wrote a very similiar comment not long ago. Down to my last 600 brain cells).

What is it about Aimee Mann that gets under your skin? Few singers can change my mood so dramatically, and not always for the better! She can make me feel vulnerable, melancholy and tender within moments. Remarkable.

Bill catches a little heat in the perception that he might like Aimee Mann too much. Phooey, I say.
This song is arresting. I stop and just listen when I hear it anywhere. Bravo, RP.
