While there is a backing violin on this track, the lead instrument is an Electronic Valve Instrument, aka an EVI, a custom-built breath and touch-controlled synthesizer controller.  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EWI or www.venusians.com for more info on this little-known instrument.

I bought this CD based on this song, it's an amazing musical journey...but not for the tone-deaf or people raised on flavor of the month trash

Wow, I'm enjoying this a lot more than I would expect for any technical reasons.

I wouldn't buy the disc based on this, but it's not that bad...so hypercritical around here sometimes

Quite likeable. Could use better lyrics, though.

I was just ready to rate this a 7, then that awful voice came on - dropped to a 2.

Am I wrong or is this synthetic violin?

I was rating this an 8 until they started singing. It hopped down to a 6 very quickly.

It would have gone lower than that, but it retains points for the instrumental section.

Good song with a very nice intro, but I think it would really benefit from the leads and vocals playing against a real drummer instead of the banal drum track they chose.
