Something missing here for me.  Sounds like a rehearsal.  A song like this needs the polish, in my opinion.  Not just a throw-away version from a couple of guys who can do what they wish based upon their own body of work.  Doesn't always work.

it's nice to hear Mr. Arthur's song twice in one day, but his original is vastly superior.

Somebody .. Please... Quick... Get that frog out of his throat and get the man some sinutab!!  NOW!!

doesn't do the song justice.

I could do w/ this being only Stipe singing... Martin's part just ruins it for me...

Surprisingly flat delivery and performance.

A fine example of how to suck the life out of otherwise profound and spiritual music.

All we need now is for Bono to get involved and we'd have the most pretentious, whiney guff in pop music compressed into the same agonising three minutes!

Caught this live on Austin City Limits not too long ago. It was a Coldplay show, who surprised everyone by bringing out Stipe. It was great!

Lordy, the only thing holding this tune up is Stipe...I'd have muted it by now if not for him...

This is such a wonderfully written song. Arthur's original is divine, and Peter Gabriel's version is also wonderful ... This is one of those songs that's so evocative I'd love to hear many, many artists cover.

That said, this version doesn't float my boat. Ah, well.
