Really? Bar none? The worst ever? Are you sure? Worse than the worst disco? Or the worst Paul Anka, Russell Crowe, Hanson????
Yup. The worst. The lowest anyone else can hope for is a tie. |

Okay, okay, its no Yoshimi. Its no Soft Bulletin. But hey, it *is* still the Flaming Lips! Check out this month's issue of Paste magazine for a lovely front cover interview with America's best touring band, IMHO.

I wasn't an immediate fan of this song when I first heard it. BUT, it definitely grows on you. It's a damn good song.

I was quite late getting into 'The Lips' and Yoshimi was my first purchase, which I liked a lot. I say 'liked' as they've been in decline for me ever since. After playing Yoshimi to death, I saw them live in Cardiff and they now hold the title of "The only band I've ever walked out of a concert for". When I go to see a band live, I don't go to hear the singers rants about the current American administration, or to watch videos of children being shot in the head repeatedly, or see the singer covering himself in fake blood to try and make some sort of point. I go to enjoy their music, which is what I paid my money for. Sadly, they couldn't even provide this service as the guy just could not sing. I've not listened to them since, and this new song... A solid 2.
Still, it certainly wasn't a wasted night as the support band, Clinic, were very good.

I heard a very different live version of this one on World Cafe recently ~ The Flaming Lips, a Slow-Growing Phenomenon ~ slowed and stripped down, it sounds oddly similar to Neil Young's song "After The Goldrush"... check it out. |

Pretty annoying to me, a solid 2. |

I saw That!!! Cat Power played with them it looked like the greatest show ever. Wyne Coyne had a rubber nun puppet

I caught that. They do put on quite an interesting show! Even if one didn't care for their music, I'm sure no one in the audience could say they were bored! |

Flaming Lips has long been in the running for the #1 slot on my list of "Worst Band EVER."
I think this just secured them the top slot, and a spot in the hall of fame for astoundingly bad music.

I'm actually digging this song, even though I'm not a huge FL fan. I am a sucker for hand-clapping, yeah-yeah songs. Must be from listening to 60s pop for so many years!

all right , all right ... a lot of cheap shots from the peanut gallery below ;-) it's an easy target for sure but I like it well enough.
I did see them do this live on David Letterman and it was very powerful as the gtr's were much louder and the yeah yeahs not so audible at all. with loads of noise and distortion and in all their costumed weirdness it was great
