A pretty clear homage by Mr. Page, though many Zeppelin fans may not know this song. |

If I recall my PBS rockumentary history... Isn't she the gal that made female sexiness acceptable, in a rather uptight era?
After all, she did pull off "Fever," still looking like a lady... |

Picture this:
I am an 18 years old with all the accompaning attitude. I am travelling with my aging mother in Tahiti. We are taking a ferry from one of Tahiti's islands to the next. We are riding atop the open-air ferry with some remarkably handsome French sailors. I am trying my best to look 'alone' sitting next to Mom, who at that very moment was overcome with the urge to belt out
"Bali Ha'i". Never have I wanted to curl up and die so badly...this song will forever transport me to that moment!! |

Songs about palm trees, sandy beaches, and boat drinks...I look out the window to snowy Missouri. Torn.

Hmmmm... LOVE Peggy Lee, HATE Rogers and Hammerstein. Quite a dilemma. Since I listened to the whole thing, I guess the incomparable Ms. Lee trumps the Dreadful Duo.

Great song. This version is too mellow... makes me want to nap rather than travel. |

Ah, I see some Led Zep coming up to save me....all is not lost.
Now we're rockin'
and LZ is not "from a time we have left far behind"? perhaps you stumbled onto RP by mistake and don't get the concept of this station |

Until now I had only heard this song on the Original Soundtrack. This version pulled me from what I was doing to find out who was singing.
Peggy has a sweet voice that carries this version beyond the demur, taupe arrangement of the band. It's almost a lullaby compared to the power of the instruments that punch through on the original. It would be nice to hear more of her, without the velvety fog of the arrangers on this song, to see if she's got some versatility as well as power in her renderings.
I can certainly hear where O'Connor's influence for her issue Am I Not Your Girl? originates.
Good to hear the variety on the playlists, but I thought the Zeppelin follow-up would have been Kashmir..... |

Great segue from Israel Kamakawiwo'ole! Not the "usual" RP fare...but then, that's one of the best things about RP!
