Great moody song from an excellent moody soundtrack for a visually great, but slightly flawed film.

I first heard that one while watching the movie version of M*A*S*H; as Frank Burns is hauled out of camp in a straitjacket, the song is playing over the loudspeaker. Hilarious. |

Funny that it's from a soundtrack by Wenders; I was just thinking it sounds like it should be on a soundtrack for a movie by David Lynch. |

I worked at a video rental store in the early 90's when this movie came out. I bought the VHS copy (and still have it!) but it has not been released on DVD — at least not for US release. I like this movie, that actress Solveig Dommartin was cool (she passed away in 2007) and the soundtrack is one of the best ever! Every time I hear this song on here I keep expecting to hear Neneh Cherry's song next... |

Reminds me of Jessica Fichot a little, in a good way (c.f. "I Will Wait For You" from her album "Le Chemin").

I first heard the cheap and cheeezeee background, then I was ASTONISHED to hear singing in English, not horrible pop squeeling in Thai or Vietnamese.
Truly Vile.

jbunniii wrote:I had forgotten all about this soundtrack, which one of my housemates had back in college. Good stuff for the most part. Has anyone actually seen the movie? Trivia from IMDB: Wim Wender''s original rough cut for this film was twenty hours long ("It will never be seen!").
The movie was frighteningly disjointed despite the fine music. Perhaps because he was forced from 20 hours to 2 and a half. Who knows? |
