Agreed on the interesting eclectic sound here, but this song is certainly not representative of their better work... 5.

Barenaked Ladies a cut above Rush??!! I am aghast! {#Eek} Now, Geddy Lee may have a marginal voice, but musically they aren't even in the same zip code. Go listen to Jacob's Ladder off of Permanent Waves, then go and make a public apology to your country. {#Snooty}

Got to back you on this one Crock.  Cananda has given us Rush, Sarah McLachlan, the Mckenzie brothers, and Labatts.  God bless em.

Does a contentious prorogation count as a constitutional crisis?  I think so, but the government doesn't seem to.

Interesting comment.

It wasn't that long ago that we Canucks wanted to be like the US when we grew up.  Now we watch from north of the 49th and hope you guys get your act back together.

No matter, though —- your town Austin is one of the coolest places, figuratively at least, that I've ever visited.

Actually, when no one's watching, the fur IS flying all day!

The rule of thumb is that all Canadians love Canada but no one loves Quebec, Ontario (esp. Toronto and Ottawa), Alberta, anyone who lives in those areas or has spent any time there, natives with a land claim, any level of government or authority, or anyone who is successful while being famous (famous & poor = indy, so that's alright). Not necessarily in that order.

We all like a good beer, though.  I've learned that's the secret to diffusing any potentially contentious situation. If the UN served beer, the World would be a safer place.

Pleasant enough but this band is something that you would expect on MOR radio.  Not really a Canadian embarrassment but nothing to brag about.  Joni, Neil and Daniel Langois, yes, we can brag about them.  And we do!

I agree with many of the comments below. Somewhere after Rock Spectacle, BNL lost it. No more fire, edge, or uniqueness. Can't listen to them anymore. Dull, dead music.

But really, Rush? How can you be embarrassed by Rush? Anything pre-Hold Your Fire is brilliant.

On the path of life, I wish you well
Divergent journeys, but we will meet again in Hell
I kept my head down and moved on
Til every friend I'd known was gone

Then, one day, I was not alone

Agreed, it's been a while since I've heard a BNL song that doesn't grate on my nerves. This one's pretty good.

BTW, I love it here in Canada and have no plans on emigrating (unlike many Quebec residents who feel Canada is not worthy of them)

Well, I'll agree that I don't quite understand the appeal of this band but I think your political analysis is wrong.  These days Quebec residents do not want to 'emigrate'; Alberta residents want to 'emigrate'.

Albertans are worried sick that this looming battle against carbon emissions and global warming might diminsh their status as those privileged few among the world's highest per capita energy users.
