Sir, when a man is tired of Bowie, he is tired of life!

GREAT song but overused and overplayed. Also Bowie does HIS song the best in all its variations.

I commented a couple of years ago that I was tired of hearing this on RP and that there are Bowie gems waiting to take its place. I feel more strongly about this now. Give it a rest, please.

stunix wrote:PLEASE RE ENCODE, there are artifacts from cd ripping present on this file. It is a poor show that this is not resolved. If the artist took time to craft the song perfectly then RP should at least not play a scratched record. the BBC wouldn't put up with this. Sorry for the delay on fixing this. All better now. |

From reading the comments, I gather that nostalgia of some kind is playing a big part in the exceptionally high rating of this song. As a first time hearer, I respectfully disagree. PSD next time around for me.

Was convinced by my 11 year old granddaughter to go see The Perks of Being a Wallflower the other day. The movie she really wanted to see was sold out. Anyway, this song was the high point of the movie for me. Reminded me of my dear, departed friend Charlie who burned his way through S.F., Barcelona and Berlin back in the day. Charlie turned me on to Bowie. Blessings to you Charlie.

This got a bit overplayed in the UK this summer as it was adopted as the song of the UK teams in the Olympics and the Paralympics, but I still can't get tired of hearing it.

Well, I disagree, and you can put me in the "Bowie was/is a genius camp." But I do find it interesting that this song shows up on many a "greatest rock songs ever" list. |
