I got this on my computer at work when it was the iTunes Freebie Of The Week (Jan '07) and listened to it so much that I "unchecked" it to get it off my RP Favorites rotation. Meanwhile, I upped its rating on RP every time I heard it for a while, then began to decrease its rating. Such is the fate of overheard songs, I suppose; although, I have a few RP Favs that I could hear a thousand times and not tire of, I think.

7 is kind of the minimum anything with Damon Albarn involvement deserves, isn't it?

Well done, hugo. Well said.
Liking this piece. I'm a brit pop, brit prog fan for 35 years. Started with The Nice and went from there.

I've been revisiting a lot of the older Blur stuff (esp. from Modern Life Is Rubbish), having recently seen their fantastic reunion performance at Glastonbury, and have to take my hat off to Damon Albarn - I've never really warmed to the guy but he's been responsible for so many great songs in so many guises over a 20 year career. Blur, Gorillaz, Mali Music, Good Bad & The Queen - all brilliant at times and never less than interesting.

Hard to interpret, but I'm not hating it. . .

Mali is Mali to this Yank (damned Yankee no less. . . Moved South and Stayed!), though sadly too many folks on any side of the pond will look blankly at you if you ask then where Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, et al are. I though I had heard of a different project he had. . . glad to see my memory was sorta right. I see BillG has many of the tunes here as well. Likely it was hear I saw that which I had forgotten.({edit} I see Ive rated one of the tunes{Le Relax} an "8".) |

This CD sort of fell under the radar when it came out. Its really good though I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you like Blur. It tends to fall more on the Blur side of things than say Gorillaz... |
