The instrumental part is, demonstrably, the same as "Stories" by Chakacha (video here).
So far, I have been unable to track down who the preacher is. One poster claims it is Ken Nordine, but it doesn't, to my ears, sound at all like Nordine.
I thought there might be some answer on CAKE's site, but, if it is there, it is buried. |

The "wiggling & wobbling" bridge cracks me up every time. Does anyone know if this is an actual sample of a sermon or is it just the singer pretending to be a fundie preacher.

You know, I think I'd really like this song, except the "man lives, man dies" thing needs to be cut in half or less. That got really old about halfway through.

shmuelman wrote:Don't like Cake - but this song is pretty cool. Sounds a little like the evil Reverend Jim "Jonestown" Jones.
I was wandering around downtown Dallas around 1974 and met some hippie types who were collecting money for some sort of new commune in South American and tried to talk me into joining them. I've often wondered if it was Jonestown. |

Even their B-sides are 10s! The dudes abide! The guitar is especially tasty on this one. Don't normally think of Cake as a guitar band.
