So underrated these guys... I should admit that BVSC does the song pretty good, but Macaco is so musically gifted and nobody sees it, too bad!

I heard this while on holiday in Spain during the summer and it brought back such happy radioparadise memories from the office.
It was probably the Buena Vista Social Club version.

I have to agree. I vacationed in Cuba earlier this year (yes, I'm Canadian) in the province where this song came from. Every group of troubadors who played for us included this in their repertoire, and every group played this tune slowly and with the magic resident in this tune. The version here has none of that magic.
I agree too. Elíades Ochoa version is the best.

Original version is better though. |

Have to agree, that version has power. This doesn't sound as good. |

This is just stupid. Sorry boys, you're fired.

there is an American band that has been doing this tune since before the BVSC came out. The lead singer lived in Cuba for a while and learned the song there. The version of this song that they do is mesmerizing. The band is The Mammals, check them out!

Aw come on, you bunch of sour face critics.
A cover does not have to be better than the original at all, as long as it adds something different and interesting. This is quite an interesting cover, and one with a LOT of happy energy!
I uploaded this ages ago, but it was rejected then. Glad that at least one other uploader agrees with me.

i have to agree with most of the comments; i thought i recognized the melody but this like GnR's version of Knockin on Heaven's Door; sounds forced and loses the mood of the original

rklein, sometimes, certain songs are not for covering, simple as that. For that see Annie Lennox's 'Jamming' rendition and Wyclef Jean's version of 'Wish You Were Here'. The latter was boycotted in my office here in the UK everytime it came on the radio.

Muy guay, please, learn your Spanish first! That comes from the English word 'wild', by the way. The 'w' sound is usually pronounced 'g' in Spanish.

No, No, No and then again... NOOOOOOO!
They have taken the spirit out of this sublime track and replaced it instead with an insipid, vacuous and disgusting re-mix of... what...???!!! Noise???!!! That would be like offending Mr Noise.
