For me; this is about how we all wish to change our situation. Add, subtract or simply move someplace new... or just go for a ride. Highway therapy is well regarded as a way to blow out the cobwebs and much less expensive than Retail Therapy.
Real roads and not the endless concrete parking lots are where real people live, real stores sell things and people have time for mindless conversation. Concrete Highways are simply ways to get there quickly. Franchise stores, bored locals who know they'll never see you again...Nobody really cares about anything. Just make a buck and return to the real world...

Heh,
This song I admit hits me hard.
Brings back a lot of memories, connects with the now,
and reminds me I used to be a driver.
Allows to look forward through the wind shield. The future comin at us.....
Like driving through the night in a fluffy flake snow storm.
