Okay, so I've bought two different songs from this CD and think I made a mistake: needed to purchase the whole thing.

Sigh.

Absolutely horrible! Repetitive and such an annoying voice.

Good, but another song that's being killed by constant playing in mainstream media - used for sporting events, adverts, movies, just generally been played to death :(

However, the rest of the songs on this album are bloody awesome.

Thank you Elbow for the soaring strings, the repetitive and uplifting lyrics, and the full choir at the end. I wasn't sure if this was a great song or the best song ever, now I know. #sarcasm

their most hopeful/happy sounding tune and consequently, their best, IMO. Yes, I think there's a link between the two.

Thanks RP for turning me on to this band. I bought this album when I first heard it here, and then bought the rest of their catalogue. Still enjoying it all {#Angel}

Only a good band and a good song could make a cheesy phrase like "holy cow" sound good. {#Cheers}

The cover art reminds me of the few times I solved the Rubic's Cube.  I made the last two turns so fast, I couldn't tell how I solved it.

I did not mean Troll as in the mythical monster, I meant troll as in someone who goes on the internet trying to piss off people who very openly like something the person in question doesn't. Never meant any disrespect sir, just like you I was giving my opinion. In this case on why I thought you (stingray) were still coming back after voting a 1 so many times.

I first met Guy Garvey when I heard Massive Attack's Flat of the Blade, in which he showed a great performance, and ever since I realized he was the vocalist of Elbow, I've been getting more and more into them.

Also, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought that he sounds like Peter Gabriel.

Huh???!!

A more correct characterization might be http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/garble.htm after this latest outburst of non-sequiturs.  Not a troll, more like an evil dwarf....or one of those tiny little dogs that nips at your ankles, throws up in the car ceaselessly and just refuses to shut up whenever the doorbell rings... Oh well, when he shits on the carpet, you just have to rub his nose in it.....that bit is kinda fun, if you can ignore the stink!

I do not allow you to call me troll (though you lack the balls to finish your character attack), because I am not!

Shall I rate every song a "7", as you mainstream-floaters do?

We are all asked to add song comments - exactly what I do and will continue to do!

Don't be such a whiner, whistle-pig!

PS

Since you fantasize about my looks - I add something to make the piggy whistle!

Well, kind of. I've bought the album (Seldom seen kid), and it makes for a pretty glorious listening-through experience!So we hear all kinds of influences in there, big deal. It flows, it *still* sounds like nothing else I've heard the way it is.
(I have to remind myself now and again that this is NOT Peter Gabriel.... the smoky quality of the voice is so incredibly close {#Think} ...but the music helps, it's nothing like Gabriel has ever done {#Wink})

To my ear the similarities to Peter Gabriel are superficial at best.  That goes for both vocals and music.

I can vouch for you Stingray, you are not a troll.  However we have no such law.

Not over my dead body.

There are some twerpy, rat-fink, Generation Wuss, bully noisemakers out there who want to pass a law against "hate speech".

Read my lips:  THIS LAW WILL NEVER PASS IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.  (that's European BS)

As for your slander of the US troops in Afghanistan.  I'll just quote Voltaire.  The words I live by:

I may not agree with a word you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it.
