such a pity joan armatrading is completely neglected here in europe. there was a short hype when she made her very first album, and since then ... nothing. in fact i was convinced she did stop making music about one century ago :-) many thanks to RP for letting me know this is NOT true.
joan has one of the most original female singer´s voices, ever, and the music is simply terrific!

Well, I submitted "Drop the Pilot" and it's still in "review." (And now that I know the difference between Joan Armatrading and Tracy Chapman, I can post with my head held high. *facepalm* |

And, if Bill will be kind, possibly "Drop the Pilot" might be on the playlist, too. This song is just awesome - maybe it's the strings, or the words, or the tempo.... Maybe it's a combination of all of that, plus her strong, confident voice. She worked hard to get where she is, and when I grow up, I wanna be her. Love this song. Yeah, this song is cool... I love it, too... hugs to ya... |

My first time hearing this. I have only one vinyl album of hers from college and I've apparently been missing out. This is beautiful.

Nice. But just an FYI here from a long-time JA fan. There are maybe 5 better songs on this CD. "Everyday Boy" is mundane compared to Merchant of Love, Shapes and Sizes, Back on the Road, Lost the Love, Would You Like to Dance.
Just saying. |

You are SO right!!!! Blushing furiously here... How did I make that mistake? Um, never mind - I think it was one too many shots of Ketel... |

Joan is still touring, and still excellent, she held the audience in the palm of her hand at Bristol. The BBC recorded the concert, it might be available still? Great night.

I've been a fan of her music since the 70's and I've never heard anything from this album before, I'm giving this one an 8.

Not odd. I've always loved her strong voice as well. On this song she holds it back until the chorus, I like that. |
