I would suggest in this case the tyranny of language and not culture (as long as we stay in the west) can be blamed.
Classical music is largely instrumental, Italian opera dominated at the time 'cause they invented it. Similarly English rock/pop dominates because it was invented in the English speaking world and non English acts sing in English if they want to be heard outside of their country.

Sir Bill often play non English acts, which could be why we're all here.. I guess.

This, coming from Cynaera back in December, I am deeply humbled. Because I always valued her thoughts on these forums and comment threads.
I never knew a thing about the woman, but it's clear she left a mark with many. That's all we can ask ... is to leave something significant behind.
