Passable, though the heavy voice vibrato nails this on in its period. Overstays its welcome, though - as Joe Strummer would have said, f*ckin' long, innit?

Nearly unlistenable, completely laughable. One can only guess at how wasted they were when they wrote or performed this. Wow.

This song is awesome. It's going on my next collection of lost gems. I saw them in Reading, PA in the early 70s and like the other old fan was surprised by how rockin' and complex their live sound was.

What I ended up experiencing was 3 hours of some of the most ass-kickin' rock I'd ever heard! Vahevela must have gone on for a 1/2 hour of improvisation. It was a stoners paradise for sure. I have since been an avid Loggins and Messina fan, and even had the pleasure of seeing them on their reunion tour in Melbourne, FL a few years back. They still kick ass.
Pathway to Glory has always been one of my favorite tracks by them, although I've never had the pleasure of hearing them do this live. Maybe one day...
I thought the same thing, till I saw them in 77 when they were touring with Fleetwood Mac on thier Rumurs tour. They were quite good. |

Good post... I too think they're under-appreciated. Hearing the live version of Angry Eyes gives me a good idea what you experienced. BTW, some silly spoofage of these guys is available on Yacht Rock on the Youtubes. |

Not too bad - it's a long way from "My Music" and "Your Momma Don't Dance" so it gets a few points for that.

This song would be tolerable if they dropped the vocals. It's just painful.

When Reagan was in office, Captain and Tennille actually performed Muskrat Love at the White House for Queen Elizabeth. Pretty sad — for Queen Elizabeth.

"Muskrat Love": quite possibly the most evil, soul-sucking piece of pop ever created. Just...cannot describe the awfulness.
This L&M song went on a bit too long, but it's interesting to hear something more of the group than the known hits. I always get them confused with Seals and Croft, so what do I know...

Why do I remember things like this so easily, and not Spanish verbs?
I always thought L&M were pretty sappy. Reminds me of a college roommate, sometime girlfriend who listened a lot to this and to things like Muskrat Love. But the album cover is pretty funny, very '70s. "Muskrat Love": quite possibly the most evil, soul-sucking piece of pop ever created. Just...cannot describe the awfulness. Wow, what an odd piece. Never was a big fan of L & M. Geez, there's bits of talent and improvisation in here.

I used to be a fan 25+ years ago, but this track does nothing for me. I didn't find the instrumental changes noteworthy at all. Rather, the whole thing just dragged.

Ok, first time I've ever heard this... remember the scene in the movie Spinal Tap when they started out as folk singers... Not to take anything away from Loggins & Messina, but seriously.

Okay, this is the first time I've ever heard this song on the airwaves. It's always gripped me with its smooth transitions from one instrument to the other across the solos. Then Messina's plucky guitar solo to wrap it up. Regardless of how you feel about Loggins & Messina, this is definitely a cool tune in its craftsmanship.

These guys made some great music and put on a great live show until for some reason they feel off the boat. I saw them in Montreal in the 70's and the band was great, lots of extended jamming and Messina's guitar playing was fantastic.
