I really feel bad for all the small indie bands that are putting out such great music, and have something meaningful to say, but will never find an audience because our culture seems to need to make a few bands megastars - and to pay attention to only them, and to keep them megastars forevermore.

Saw U2 in Nashville a few weeks ago.  Amazing show.  They sounded great and put on an outstanding show.  The sound system was so impressive - for an outdoor concert it was incredible loud and no distortion.  The stage was also very impressive.  I think the 360 degrees tour is over now, but if not, and you have the chance to see them, do it, you won't regret it.

Note, at the end of the show, Bono brought up a blind fan from the audience who was holding a sing reading "blind guitar player", Bono gave him his guitar and he played All I Want Is You while Bono sang.  The rest of the band came back on stage and backed him up.  Then when the song was finished, Bono told him to keep the guitar. What a great way to end the concert.

Fun, upbeat, motivating tune. What is not to like? Great to jog or workout to.

Here's the thing, go back and look at the reviews of U2's earlier albums say, before "Joshua Tree." The band was NOT a critical darling. In fact, "Unforgettable Fire" received a luke warm reception by Rollingstone:

"with The Unforgettable Fire, U2 flickers and nearly fades, its fire banked by a misconceived production strategy and occasional interludes of soggy, songless self-indulgence. This is not a 'bad' album, but neither is it the irrefutable beauty the band's fans anticipated."

So let's not rewrite history. The band hit a real creative and popular nadir with Joshua/Achtung but they didn't have any radio hits before that. They were and always have been a band that wrote music meant to be performed live first a formost. I think that's why so many people have a hard time accepting songs heard on the radio for the first time, these songs are meant to be heard in an arena surrounded by screaming fans, and sitting in 200$ seats.

I don't know, I have just about every U2 album and have been listening to them since the beginning.  Loved the Boy, October, War albums and although No line is no where near the quality of these albums, it is much closer in sound than anything they had put out for a long time.  Never going to get that creativity they had when they that age again anyway, so I will take what I can get...its not a bad song or album.

U2 is one of the most overrated bands in the world, period.  And this isn't even one of their better songs.

I hear the band's original sound and lyric inspirations in much of this album. I love it, especially the biblical allusions. The whole thing is an inspiration to me. I'm so sorry to read all the negative comments including the one from Bill at this moment! It's not Joshua Tree (when I felt they were Irish boys trying to sing the blues — not authentic), but No Line on the Horizon is real U2 in my opinion. And having been a fan of the band from the beginning and first seeing them at the Orpheum in Boston in 1983 and several times since, I'm glad they're back.
