I think any Radio 1 listeners from the 70's will know this as a dj jingle and, are you, like me, always surprised to hear it lasting longer than 30 seconds?

Very creative response! So...in other words...one must have a CD of music of their own to compare when offering an opinion that doesn't attack anyone? Hmmm...interesting. Amoreena must have tons of CD's for all of us to compare to...for the comments she has left.

it never gets old with the beatles!!

It's the Paul stuff that gets us interested in the Beatles when we're children. But it's the John stuff that turns us on to serious music when we're adolescents and adults. Finally, when we're old, Paul's stuff makes us nostalgic for our youth. A band for all seasons.

I like Paul and his cutesy stuff.  I also like his other stuff.
I can't imagine to be creatively intense your whole life
through, and never want to fluff things up a little.
I like this song.  I used to sing it to my mother and
she laughed, which is a good thing.  A nine baby, a nine.

Obviously, the Beatles were a mighty band with many, many great songs.  They lose me on the cutesy Paul stuff like this.  Too fluffy, too catchy.  I like their more substantial songs (the more John or George centered stuff).  I know I'm in the minority.

In the minority maybe, but not alone. Certainly not alone.

My baby was born 3 days ago. Listening to this song on RP, I just realized that if I sing

Let's all get up and dance to a song that was a hit before your mother was born...

It becomes recursive ! :)

Decent little tune, but I don't see how some people give it a 9 or 10 (or 1 or 2). Kind of catchy and non-threatening, like something they would use in an iPhone commerical.
John Lennon referred to this type of writing by Paul as his "granny shit". A real miracle of cooperation that those two were able to collaborate at all, and to such wonderful result.

There's something hopeful about my 13 yr old going into Borders with me, and immediately picking up the Magical Mystery Tour album and proclaiming "This is my favorite album."

and then I give him a little look and he says

"yes, I know it's not an album, but a collection of their singles! But STILL! Look at all these songs!!!..."

My work here, it might be done.
