From Wikipedia: Carlile describes the vocals as "technically wrong but emotionally right".
Also, From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Understatement is a form of speech which contains an expression of less strength than what would be expected. This is not to be confused with euphemism, where a polite phrase is used in place of a harsher or more offensive expression. Geeze, I thought she got booted from the local tryouts for American Idol. Yeeecccchhhh. That's pretty much caterwauling, that one. |

If I had pipes like that I'd probably use them too. Nothing wrong with that - you either like it or you don't.
I like it.

Nice to see a positive comment for this song among the hate. I like your take on it - this song is about a journey. Good tune. |

This girl never gets under a 7. In her 20's with a voice seemingly riddled with years of experience, cigarettes, and whiskey.

Why her attempt to put your auditory system in full distress until the last 3 seconds of the song? I almost get a feeling she might have a decent voice hidden underneath the screeching. To bad, the song itself is likable.
